Indian Education System: Into the Future

“Change does not necessarily assure progress, but progress implacably requires change. Education is essential to change, for education, creates both new wants and the ability to satisfy them.”
Henry S. Commager

'Gurukul' System of Education: It was the first and the foremost way of teaching system in India followed all over the country. The teachers were known as the ‘Gurus’ and students were called ‘Vidyarthi’. It was basically a form of teaching which was mentored, scheduled and examination focused to excel to higher levels.

The methodology of proctored classes is deeply instilled in the Indian Education system and has become an integral part of it. Over a period of time, the population has increased, the number of students has grown up, new forms of learning and teaching has evolved, the cost of having a good education has increased, and time management has become a necessity.

In today’s era, traditional teaching methodology is being replaced by an online system of teaching where there are pre-recorded lectures, making it cost-effective as there is no need for classrooms (physical infrastructure), saves time as students can learn according to their convenience helping to manage time more effectively and content catering to the wide range of students.

But is this system actually penetrating the Indian market? Is it satisfying the needs of the Indian Education system? Is it benefiting Indian Students? Is it bridging the skill gap between the graduates produced by the Indian universities and that demanded by the corporate?

The questions need to be answered and one possible solution can be an all in one Online Learning platform which trains the students for the courses that help in developing the skills required by the industry, making the Indian students globally competent, walking on the lines of our Traditional teaching which has a mentor, customizing it accordingly to the needs of students in terms of time, place and cost without compromising on the quality by instilling one to one teaching methodology.

Another key challenge that the E-learning industry in India is currently facing is maintaining the learner engagement. In traditional classrooms, this challenge is addressed by the physical constraints, the teacher and social behavior. The one to one online teaching methodology should cater to this issue as engagement is actually the prime focus for both tutors and students, thus eliminating issues faced by the student regarding the availability of the appropriate batch size, cost, time, etc.

Such innovations accustomed to the Indian needs is expected to shape the Indian education industry in a positive way, making the teaching and learning experience more productive and exciting.
